Get Fit Fido

So, are you sitting on the couch with your dog, watching a good movie, eating something you shouldn't be eating, then you look at your dog and think, you're getting fat and so am I? If that seems to be the case, then it's time to make yourself and your dog feel better.

Your dog is an important part of your family. Your dog is your friend, he's a playmate for your kids and most of all an important part of your family. Your dog is your responsibility and it's up to you to make sure your dog is fit and healthy.

If you find your dog packing on the pounds, then it's up to you to make sure he loses those unwanted pounds. While you're helping Fido get into shape, you can take this opportunity to personally benefit from his training program. After all, someone has to take him for a walk.

What can you do to help your dog get fit again?

  • Visit your vet for advice
  • Cut out snacks and people food or keep treats to a minimum
  • Make sure your dog exercises
  • Go to a dog park
  • Take your dog swimming
  • Play catch or fetch

As with an exercise program for yourself, start out slow with your pet. Don't go out the first day and expect your dog to walk or jog a mile. Start with a short walk and add 5 minutes a week. It will be good for both of you.

Most of all, have fun with your pet.
