What activities do you participate in? (swim, bike, run, hike, etc.) My main focus is running. I enjoy cross training with the Y classes and biking with my kids.
Viewing:definitely football
Playing: shooting basketball
What are your goals?: To walk in the path created for me by God and use all the talents he has granted to the best of my ability. I hope to learn how to swim for exercise (and who knows competition....). I will make 2011 my most fit year yet
What motivates you?:
- Patients that have been dealt an unfair card in life and are dealing with illness or disability. On the days I don't feel like going out or I want to quit they help me to recognize when your health is jeopardized those are the real struggles.
- My children: Modeling that hard work produces results, even with very little "raw" talent.
What's your favorite food? Chili and mashed potatoes
What's your favorite song, band or music to listen to when exercising?
I listen to country music artists but can bring in hip hop for big hills or to pick up the pace
If you could pick one athlete to talk to or workout with, who would it be and why?
Pam Reed mother of three, Badlands ultramarathoner winner who continues to get better with age. She directs the Tucson Marathon as well.
What is your favorite sports drink and energy fuel?
Gu chomps (strawberry) and I hate sports drinks but I guess G2 is my favorite
If you compete, what is the one race or competition you would like to do at least once?
Marine Corp Marathon
What is your favorite race you've competed in?
The shamrock shuffle in 3/10 after my weight loss..I surprised myself with my time (on those never ending hills....) and began to believe I could push myself harder.
List some of your major athletic or health accomplishments?
PR this year for full and half marathons and qualification for the Boston Marathon in 2011. A goal to take off weight which I had gradually gained with my three pregnancies-LOST 30 pounds in 2010.
What are some of your biggest challenges with staying fit?
Wow, where do I begin? Everyday it is a choice and negotiation with the schedules of everyone in my family. Trying not to do the sleep deprivation thing too often. Being fit defines a big piece of me. I am so thankful for a husband and kids who respect this goal. As a primary care physician I must be able to look lots of folks in the eye and ask them to overcome obstacles to fit and healthy lifestyles.

Adversity is the only true opportunity to show character.
Give a 110% once you commit yourself, there really isn't any other way to succeed.
